And put your killing skill on the extreme right of your bar.

I'm Monk/Necro, but I beat my mirror tonight by having only one skill on my bar - Healing Breeze. Then I just hit that whenever it ran out and spent the rest of the time whacking her with my wand. It was close, but I won

How I beat the mirror finally with my E/Mo was taking only Healing Breeze and Pacifism with me. He wouldn't use healing breeze one him, and wouldn't use pacifism either because that would mean he would have to stop attacking me.
So I just casted healing breeze all the time while attacking him with my normal wand, which did much less damage than his bow. So when he had more health then I, I would just cast pacifism on him, wait for my healing breeze to get me more health than him, and attack him again.
After a long fight of nutrition he was eventually beaten...

1. Bring only sword skills
2. Enter the fight with an axe/hammer/bow/wand
3. Switch back to sword
4. Win

Hardly - I run a Ranger/Ele my self. took me two tries to beat him. heres the quick and dirty way to win...
Equip Favourable winds in your first slot. then equip every single ranger shot you have.. fill up the bar if at all possible. when you start the fight the image will imdeditaly start casting Favourable winds - while he does that run into CC. then just use all your ranger shots.. keep shotign them. the image will pull out an axe.. and well, cant shot arrows with an axe can we?
very easy way to win..

close combat i'm guessing. but the better way to do that fight is to get ALL of the nature rituals. and he will waste the entire fight casting them and you'll just sit back and get the same bonuses as he does, while pummeling him with arrows. or...... throw dirt for the win!

OK. No one's screwed. Each Primary/Secondary takes a slightly different strategy. And a lot of frustrated persistence.
Your mirror comes in with exactly the same skills as you, and level 20 competency. So you're equally matched. Er, except for that Uberarmor and Uberweapon he/she has. I've heard that the Mirror also comes in with each attribute set at 15.
The first issue is not what to bring, but what not to bring. Don't equip anything that the computer can use more efficiently than a human. Namely knockdowns, anything that heals, or a complex set of combat spells. If you end up with six satisfactory items in your skillbar, then only go in with six.
Do bring skills for the mirror to use which will drain their energy, sacrifice their health (Necros, you should have lots of these), cause exhaustion... but aren't too scary prospects when they're used on you. Skills that are designed to restrict your movement are good -- you're fighting in a small space; hopefully, you shouldn't be doing too much running. Elementalists, by all means bring those big-energy area of effect spells -- but remember to move out of the AoE as soon as they drop. You'll see at the top of the screen when they're casting. Also bring big-energy enchantments for the mirror to waste time casting on him/herself. Any of these enchantments you need too, cast them on yourself just before stepping on the last stone to begin the challenge, for a couple-second head start.
You want the mirror to waste time, energy and health, so you can spam him/her mercilessly with that cheap little 5-energy skill (or, if you're lucky enough to have one, a Uberweapon of your own -- hammers tend to do the most damage, Warriors, and the mirror usually shows up with an axe or a bow). The exact combination to do this will always be a little different per your available skillset.
I've beaten this three times, and each time I was convinced I was lost, until I realized my mirror had just ran out of energy. So hang in there and be relentless.

as a ranger/mesmer, this is what i did
1)load up on natural rituals
2)bring apply poison, distracting shot, troll unguent, and 1 or 2 bow skills
3)cast apply poison just before cutscene, then skip it
4)start wailing on him
by the time he was done with the rituals i had him down to about 1/2 health, and poison eating him down. just have to interrupt troll unguent when he tried to cast it and its a pretty much done deal

I found out what to do, my friend told me
Okay first you need to get a weapon that has a higher max damage than the one you have and put it in a slot, BUT make sure that you dont meet the requirement for that weapon, then the cpu automatically thinks that because the higher max damage weapon does more damage than it equips it! So you have a weapon that has a lower max damage than the other so the mirror equips the higher max damage weapon and only does 4-6 damage because he/she doesnt reach the requirement, meanwhile you're doing about 15-?? damage so you get an easy win... especially if you have no skills equiped he'll just hack away at 5 damage meanwhile you're doing 15 so you'll kill the mirror by the time you have 2/3s health!
PM me if you need some clarification

I managed to ascenend with a Monk/Necro last night. The skills in the skill bar were Healing Breeze, Retribution, Protective Spirit, and Pacifism. I did not use the Pacifism. The rest were "useless" skills like resurrection. One critical item (from several failures) is to NOT equip Orison of Healing. Add it to the above and it turns into a stalemate.
Basic startegy is -- stay outside of axe range, keep healing breeze up, let retribution do damage back, and add some additional damage with a good staff.

That seems odd, since the mirror image gets all attributes at 15, so he would meet the requirements quite easily?

I beat my mirrior with full smite build!!! That's right~! SMITE!
Retribution + Holy Wrath + Smite + Holy Srike + Bane Signet
Basicly, this build just punish those that attacks, you can just sit there and let the comp attack and punish him for doing it, since you're not attacking, you won't take damage from the mirror's enchantments. I beat the mirrior within 30 seconds and left with only 4 hp left
